In the vegetable sector, part of the forecast production is offered for sale one week in advance by LAVA, at a fixed price. Special offers can be pre-sourced both in terms of quantity and price.
In 2005 Veiling Hoogstraten started selling ‘specialty’ items: new, trendy tomatoes and peppers. Unusually, these specialty items are not sold at auction but are traded in advance, usually on the basis of weekly prices or long term agreements.
